Bathroom Safety

Elderly Bathroom Safety Modification in Singapore

The bathroom is the room where most older-adult falls happen. Wet floors, low toilet seats, narrow doorways and the lack of anything to hold onto turn a routine wash into a balance test. Bathroom safety modification reduces those risks with fixings that are stable, slip-resistant and easy to use by the senior and the caregiver.

What a bathroom safety upgrade typically includes

  • Grab bars — horizontal, vertical, angle and L-shaped bars at the WC, shower and basin. We use bars rated to withstand the loading required for body weight support.
  • Foldable shower seats and stools — fixed seats fold flat when not in use; portable stools suit homes without wall reinforcement.
  • Raised toilet seats or higher-bowl WCs — to reduce the depth a user has to lower into for sitting, and the effort needed to stand.
  • Anti-slip flooring — anti-slip mats, interlocking anti-slip tiles, or coatings applied to existing tiles to raise slip resistance in the wet area.
  • Basin support bars — fixed or foldable bars beneath wash basins so a user can lean and steady themselves at the basin.
  • Handheld shower head and lever taps — reachable while seated, easier to grip for arthritic hands.
  • Lighting and night lighting — brighter, even lighting reduces shadows; a low-glare night light helps the path from bedroom to bathroom.

Typical product range

From our installation catalogue, we work with a range of grab bars and shower fixtures sized from 30 cm to 75 cm, including white and stainless-steel finishes, foldable support bars (with and without a floor leg for added load capacity), basin support bars, foldable and portable shower seats, hook-over shower seats, mobile shower seats, raised toilet seats and commodes.

We help you choose the right type for the user's grip, the wall structure and the space available, and we are happy to walk through samples and finishes on the home survey.

How an installation visit usually runs

For a typical HDB bathroom upgrade we plan for one installation visit. Drilling, fixing, sealing and clean-up are completed in the same day. Heavier work — for example, replacing a kerbed shower with a level wet zone, or relocating a WC — runs across two to four days and is scheduled separately.
